The Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation would like to share this tribute to Washington State University President Elson S. Floyd from Chris Bruce, Director of the Museum of Art at WSU:
"Dear friends,
The staff at the Museum of Art shares our community’s sense of loss with the passing of Dr. Floyd. From his first year on campus, Elson became a great advocate for the museum and always asked us to dream big about what the museum could be. He made sure the new museum would be located on Terrell Mall on the site of the Police Station, as a beacon of inspiration for everyone. His growing friendship with arts patron Jordan Schnitzer was a joy to behold.
We hope you will take a few minutes to watch the video of the two of them as we remember the pleasure Dr. Floyd took in engaging with others on the value of higher education. We will miss his friendship and support deeply, and re-dedicate ourselves to realizing his dream of a bright new museum facility in the heart of campus which, in Elson’s words 'makes a lasting testament to the belief that excellence in the arts and sciences are mutually beneficial… and that will complete the picture of a great university and be open to members of the WSU community and visitors alike.'
