Joseph Gallivan interviewed Rick Axsom, Senior Curator at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, on KBOO 90.7 FM about the Andy Warhol exhibition on view now at Portland Art Museum.
Andy Warhol: Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation is the biggest ever show of Warhol prints, featuring over 250 works on loan from Portland art collector and philanthropist Jordan Schnitzer.
In the interview, Axsom talks about Andy Warhol’s transition from top advertising art director into uptown gallery artist in the early 1960s, his prints for his studio The Factory, and his later era work such as his celebrity portraits and the Endangered Species series.
