The Register-Guard ran an AP story last week on the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation’s $5 million contribution to PSU for a campus art museum.
The contribution is for a 7,500 square-foot museum that will bear the name of the Portland philanthropist. The museum will occupy two floors of Neuberger Hall, PSU’s most utilized building, and one long overdue for a facelift.
The university’s renovation will cost $70 million with $60 million already approved by the Oregon Legislature. The contribution from the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation will offset PSU’s fundraising work, now leaving the school with $5 million left to raise for the project.
Construction is set to begin late this summer and will be completed in 2019.
The Foundation has donated millions for museums on college campuses including the University of Oregon and Washington State University.
The Associated Press wire service wrote their report from a story published by The Oregonian/OregonLive.
