USA Today published the Associated Press story on the $5 million donation from the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation to build Portland State University’s first art museum.
Philanthropist and developer Jordan D. Schnitzer announced the donation at a press conference last week.
State bonds will back $60 million of the $70 million renovation costs to Neuberger Hall, PSU’s most utilized classroom building. The 7,500-square-foot museum will occupy two floors of the building.
The PSU Foundation had $10 million left to fund and with this donation, they are working towards the remaining $5 million.
Construction will begin late this summer with project completion set for 2019.
The Associated Press wire service wrote their report from a story published by The Oregonian/OregonLive.
