Jon Bell, staff reporter for the Portland Business Journal, highlighted how the $5 million donation for Portland State University’s first art museum is part of a long overdue remodel of the schools’ Neuberger Hall.
“Right now, it’s kind of an unfriendly box,” said Will Dann, a principal with the Portland architecture firm Hacker.
The $70 million renovation of Neuberger includes plans for the school’s first art museum. The Jordan D. Schnitzer Family Foundation has contributed $5 million to the project.
“I believe that students on every university campus should make going to an art museum part of their campus life” said Jordan Schnitzer. “Art museums are not just for the elite few. They are for every member of our community,” he said.\
