Stevie Beiswanger of the Corvallis Advocate writes that the event and exhibition series “Totality” promises to be as rare a collection of celestial-themed activities as the eclipse itself.
Curator, local artist, and Oregon State University professor Julia Bradshaw has “outdone herself this time, organizing an astonishingly impressive series of workshops and interactive experiences,” writes Beiswanger.
Bradshaw also curated the Totality exhibit on display at the Fairbanks Gallery from August 19 through September 21. One element of the show, “Transformation,” features Vija Clemins, an artist who has taken thousands of images of the night sky. He created three prints from photographs using three or four printmaking techniques on each. These unique images are on loan from Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation.
The Totality exhibit features work by artists Eric William Carroll, “Standard Stars,” Penelope Umbrico “Sun/Screen,” Julia Oldham “Laika’s Lullaby,” the partnered work of Tom Carrico and Joan Truckenbrod, and many more.
