The Wyoming Tribune Eagle's Ellen Fike writes about the two new art exhibitions to open at the University of Wyoming Art Museum. Both exhibits, Emancipating the Past: Kara Walker's Tales of Slavery and Power and The Harper’s Weekly Illustrations: Winslow Homer’s Americana, Fike writes, "have plenty of practical application to modern discussion of race and national pride in America."
Emancipating the Past, drawn from the collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation, features works from one of today's most prominent African-American artists. “Kara Walker’s work is very powerful and it … raises an awareness about our social conversations,” said Museum Director Susan Moldenhauer.
The exhibition is on view through May 14th.
