Art collector and philanthropist Jordan D. Schnitzer talked to Dave Cantor of the Daily Progress about the exhibition Richard Serra: Prints at the Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia.
Regarding the abstract Serra prints on view in the show, which runs through May 8th, Jordan Schnitzer advises, "Feel first and think second. Don't worry understanding the art."
"Engaging people with art has become Schnitzer’s mission — his loaning program’s accounted for pieces at about 100 exhibitions at museums up and down both coasts and dotting America’s interior," writes Cantor. On the sometimes difficult topics addressed in contemporary prints, paintings, and sculptures, Schnitzer says, “Artists are chroniclers of our time. They’re forcing us to deal with social issues and the human condition."
