Michael Upchurch of the Seattle Times reviewed Under Pressure: Contemporary Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation at the Bellevue Arts Museum in Bellevue, Washington. Upchurch notes the show’s focus on “the rise of printmaking as a fine art unto itself and not just the lackluster stepchild of painting and sculpture in postwar America.” Several pieces from artists Jasper Johns, Sol LeWitt, Sarah Morris, Kara Walker, and more are discussed.
Upchurch concludes, “[A]ll in all, this is a fascinating exploration of a medium whose possibilities seem limitless.” Under Pressure is on view at the Bellevue Arts Museum through October 12th.
