The Desert Sun's Xochitl Peña shares a preview of the highly anticipated Palm Springs Fine Art Fair, February 12-15 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The art fair kicks off Thursday with a VIP preview party and reception honoring Arts Patron of the Year Arlene Schnitzer.
Over 14,000 people are expected to attend the fair. "We've been able to convince the art world at large, at a national level ... this is really a center that needs to be taken seriously," said Rick Friedman, founder and executive director of the Palm Springs Fine Art Fair.
Art collector and philanthropist Jordan D. Schnitzer, known as the "Prince of Prints" for his extensive collection of over 8,000 contemporary prints, will do an on-stage interview with Peña on Friday, February 13th, at 4pm. "Art adds so much to our lives," he said. In today's world with a constant bombardment of social media from Twitter and Facebook, he said art can be a refuge.
