The Daily of the University of Washington's Arunabh Satpathy reviewed Emancipating the Past: Kara Walker's Tales of Slavery and Power, on view now at the Bellevue Arts Museum, noting its relevance to today's current events.
Satpathy writes, "Art can often take new meanings based on the socio-political backdrop. Though Kara Walker’s art in this collection looks back at the antebellum South, the history of American race relations looms particularly grimly for Tales of Slavery and Power during its residence at the Bellevue Arts Museum."
The exhibit is drawn from the collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation and runs through November 27th.
