Max Page, Professor of Architecture & History and Director of Historic Preservation Initiatives at the University of Massachusetts, interviewed art collector and philanthropist, Jordan Schnitzer, on WHMP's Bill Newman Show on February 7th. The interview focuses on the recently opened Emancipating the Past: Kara Walker's Tales of Slavery and Power exhibition at the University Museum of Contemporary Art at UMass - Amherst.
Mr. Schnitzer also discusses the importance of collecting and sharing the work of contemporary artists like Kara Walker, through the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation. "Artists have always been chroniclers of our time, " Mr. Schnitzer said. "They are always the ones forcing us to deal with the social and political issues facing society."
