In this video from NBC29 in Charlottesville, VA, art collector Jordan D. Schnitzer explains why he acquires pieces by artist Jasper Johns. Several of those pieces are showing at the Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia, and Schnitzer gave a private gallery tour Saturday. Schnitzer commented of Johns:
“He takes different kinds of mediums, different art techniques to convey the same theme, and because it’s done through different mediums, it has a different depth, and you read it differently. Your eye and your body feels it and sees it differently.”
The show, Jasper Johns: Early Prints, continues through May 19.
