Missoula Downtown is covering the exhibit Under Pressure: Contemporary Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation. The show opens February 18 and runs through June 1, 2014 at the Missoula Art Museum. The Foundation loans the collection free of exhibition charges and includes an education grant supporting artist Joe Feddersen‘s residency. The grant further supports busing to schools on the Flathead Reservation and in surrounding rural communities, as part of its commitment to bringing art to audiences who might otherwise lack access. On February 26, collector Jordan D. Schnitzer will lead a tour of the exhibit for the museum’s Contemporary Collector’s Circle. First Interstate Bank will co-host a reception for Mr. Schnitzer February 27.
The magazine says: “Featuring over 100 prints, Under Pressure presents a Who’s Who list of the greatest artists since the 1950s from the internationally renowned such as Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, to newly established art-world hot shots such as Damien Hirst and Radcliffe Bailey, to regional favorites—exhibited at MAM in the past—Joe Feddersen and Roger Shimomura. Schnitzer’s personal collection of over 8,000 prints is one of the most important assemblages of post WWII printmaking in the country, and the Missoula Art Museum is honored by the opportunity to share this carefully curated and diverse selection of masterworks with the community.”
