Jennifer Farrell, Curator for Contemporary Art at the Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia, discusses the current Jasper Johns: Early Prints show on WTJU radio in Charlottesville.
Listen to her comments about the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation collection, which she calls “one of the richest and most comprehensive collections of modern and contemporary prints. It’s really a fantastic and incredibly thorough and deep collection. He has a strength in works by Jasper Johns. With this exhibition, we wanted to…show his development as a printmaker, to show his interest in the medium…what would quickly become the signature motifs, the numbers, the letters, the targets…the maps.”
The exhibit is on view until May 19th.
