Portland art blog PORT shared its Best and Worst of 2014 list in a recent blog post, naming Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation show Emancipating the Past: Kara Walker’s Tales of Slavery and Power at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in Eugene, Oregon, the Best Install of 2014. Art critic Jeff Jahn writes, “The install of this exhibition retained, even enhanced Walker‘s keen edge between delight and disgust, which is the whole point and prompts critical thinking.”
Emancipating the Past was curated by Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art Jessi DiTillo of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at University of Oregon. The exhibition will show next at the David C. Driskell Center at University of Maryland from February 5th to May 29th, 2015.
