The North Bay Business Journal reports that the Sonoma County Museum Foundation will open its new Art Museum of Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, CA, on Saturday, April 11th, with its inaugural exhibition Andy Warhol to Kara Walker: Picturing the Iconic, drawn from the collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation.
The Grand Opening will commence with a gallery tour led by art collector and philanthropist Jordan D. Schnitzer on the evening of Friday, April 10th, followed by a Studio 54-themed grand opening gala on Saturday, April 11th.
Andy Warhol to Kara Walker: Picturing the Iconic runs through May 25th and will feature 90 contemporary artworks from Andy Warhol, Kara Walker, Enrique Chagoya, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, and many more. Jordan Schnitzer says of the exhibition, “I encourage people to bring their children to enjoy this art. I can’t talk about art without reinforcing the importance of it being a family experience. By taking children to the Museum you create family time that prompts conversations. If they don’t like a particular piece of art they can talk about ‘why’.”
