PORT, the Portland art blog, shared an exclusive interview with Wangechi Mutu during her visit to Portland in March as part of the Jordan D. Schnitzer Exhibition and Visiting Artist Lecture Series at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Wangechi Mutu: The Hybrid Human was the inaugural exhibition in the series. The series presents curated exhibitions from the print collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation, as well as brings invited artists in connection to the exhibitions to engage with PNCA students, faculty, and the public through lectures, studio visits, and collaborations with the Print Media department.

The Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation is saddened by the news of artist Rick Bartow's death this past Saturday, April 2nd. Born in Newport, Oregon, Rick was a Native American artist of Wiyot and Yurok heritage. His creativity was boundless and his passion for his culture and his craft was expressed through his painting, sculpture, prints, ceramics, and mixed media work.

The University of Wyoming Art Museum will launch the 20th Annual Shepard Symposium on Social Justice with a reception for Rebecca Peabody from the Getty Research Institute Wednesday, April 6, from 5-6:30 p.m. Following the reception, Peabody will give a keynote address at 7 p.m. in Room 111 of the UW Visual Arts Building.
The reception at the Art Museum is an opportunity to view Emancipating the Past: Kara Walker’s Tales of Slavery and Power, drawn from the collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation. Peabody will attend, and light refreshments will be served. The exhibition remains on view through May 14.

PORTLAND, Ore.— The Portland Art Museum is pleased to present Warhol Prints from the Collection of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, opening October 8, 2016. This major exhibition of approximately 250 Andy Warhol prints and ephemera from the comprehensive collection of Jordan D. Schnitzer will be the largest display of the Pop Art master's work ever seen in the Pacific Northwest, spanning two floors of the Museum and including instantly recognizable images such as Warhol’s iconic Campbell’s Soup Can (Tomato) and Marilyn Monroe (Marilyn).
SGCI Names Jordan D. Schnitzer Distinguished Advocate of Printmaking
SGC International has announced that it will honor Jordan D. Schnitzer with the Distinguished Advocate of Printmaking Award at the SGCI 2016 Conference: FLUX Portland.
The 2016 SGCI Conference Steering Committee decided unanimously to give Jordan Schnitzer this award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and tireless efforts in supporting every aspect of printmaking in the Northwest region. Jordan’s vision and willingness to offer access to his collections for curators building exhibitions, for research and curricular activities within academic institutions, and for the promotion of scholarship around printmaking is transformative for the field.

Lifetime Achievement Award Exhibition: James Rosenquist, which is part of the 2016 SGCI Printmaking Conference, will feature 30 James Rosenquist prints from several collections with the majority coming from the Jordan D. Schnitzer Family Foundation Collection. Giving an overview of Rosenquist’s works in print, the prints in the exhibition are drawn from the years 1964 through 2011 and include selections from each decade. The exhibition will be on view at the Pacific Northwest College of Art 511 Gallery. This year’s SGCI Conference will honor James Rosenquist with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
