Interior Landscapes: Judy Pfaff

From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation

The Schnitzer Collection: 4/19/25-08/23/25

The Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation will debut Interior Landscapes: Judy Pfaff, a captivating solo exhibition by internationally acclaimed artist Judy Pfaff, at its public exhibition space in Northwest Portland. A pioneer in installation art and innovative contemporary printmaking, Pfaff is renowned for her ability to transform materials into evocative, immersive environments that explore memory, emotion, and sensory depth. Featuring nearly 50 of Pfaff's colorful works, this exhibition is drawn entirely from the collections of Portland businessman, philanthropist, and ARTnews Top 200 Collector Jordan Schnitzer. It celebrates the artist's long-standing "love affair with materials" with a diverse body of work that blends traditional techniques with unexpected textures. Her use of woodcut, photogravure, collagraph, encaustic, and mixed media—including glitter, leaves, beeswax, dyed paper, and poured resin— creates richly layered, tactile compositions that come to life with both intuition and precision. "Her images of Portland's Japanese Garden are favorites in our collection," said Schnitzer. "Each year, it is exciting for me to see her evolving and pushing her boundaries with artistic challenges that result in art that transcends time and space! Her latest work uses new technology, which lets us walk with her on her artistic journey!" Interior Landscapes: Judy Pfaff will be the artist's first solo exhibition in the Pacific Northwest in 25 years.

Now open through August 23 at the Schnitzer Collection (3033 NW Yeon Ave., Portland, OR) Free and open to the public Viewing hours: Tuesday–Friday, 3–5 p.m. | Saturday, 12–5 p.m.
